“Why are you doing this, Yang?” AJ asked in an effort to draw attention away from his rather embarrassing defeat.
The blonde sighted, “do you know what my greatest wish is?” She asked, ignoring the prisoners question in the process.
AJ narrowed his eyes, “to fight, to seek danger wherever you can.”
Yang smiled a bitter smile. “No, it is to live in a world where I don’t have to worry if my daughter comes home from school, a world where I don’t have to wonder if Ruby, Blake, Weiss or anybody else gets killed because of their job. My dearest wish is to live in a perfect world without war or suffering.”
AJ leaned back, totally unimpressed by Yang’s monologue. “Touching, but I don’t see why you had to tell me that.”
Only a constant chanting of ‘kitty ears’ prevented the brawler from slamming AJ’s head into the table. “Because we are not that different, we both want to create a world without suffering, without pain or sorrow. I want to know what made you pick your path, why you became the monument to all our sins while Blake was awarded the St. Burnie Medal for valour.”
“You want to know what made me different? Simple, everybody had a choice to make on how they wanted to solve the discrimination.” AJ seemed to try and burn Yang to ash with his glare. “Except me, my choice was made by Weiss.”
“That’s bullshit!” Yang exploded, “YOU choose to kidnap Jaune, YOU choose to form your own terrorist group, YOU choose to join the White Fang, YOU choose to nearly kill Weiss and most of all, YOU choose to join Beacon! At any point you could have just said no, because NOBODY was forcing you to do this! Everything else is just something you tell yourself to make you fucking feel better!”
“I never had a choice!” AJ yelled back, standing up from his chair. “What else was I supposed to do but join Beacon and the White Fang? Stay in the forest and wait for the Grimm to kill me?!”
“You could have joined a mercenary company or something! That is the biggest fucking problem with you, whenever something goes wrong, it is always someone else’s fault even if it was obviously yours!”
“That is not true!” AJ defended himself.
“Oh really? And I suppose that the people of Azure Lake will be glad to hear that it was their fault that you butchered half their villager because you felt that they discriminated against Faunus? Is this what your parents wanted?” Yang’s aura was radiating so much heat at this point that AJ felt like he was in an oven. Still he refused to give up.
“Do not talk about my parents like you know them! How would you feel if your daughter gets bullied for being a filthy halfling? That is how my life has been for years! I was always picked on for being the weak or the dump or the Faunus and your daughter will get the exact same thing happen to her!”
Yang’s fist slammed into the table hard enough to leave a sizeable dent. “In that case she will get to know that she has a loving family to return home to! And if Charna believes that she has to kill innocent people to prove her worth then I will consider myself failed as a parent!”
The kickboxer breathed heavily after her outburst, before standing up from her chair and walking towards the door. “I’m done here, it is clear I wasted my time talking with you.” She paused with one hand on the handle, “actually, Blake wanted me to ask you one thing.”
“And what is that?” AJ asked, his face brightening up slightly at the mention of his love.
“When does a hero become a murderer?” With that question Yang left the room, leaving AJ behind to ponder his answer.
