The concert season has once again begun!
New Music Ensemble is tonight at 8. I'm playing 2 pieces in it. Attica and Having Never Written a Note for Percussion. Both are very impressive. The theme of the concert is "Music and...", which is really cool. Attica has narration and HNWNP is being done with a group of painters. There's a bunch of other songs involving dance, video, etc. I'll report back on how it turns out. I'm kind of worried about HNWNP right now, because I've been sneezing like crazy all day, and this piece starts and ends really quietly. I can just see, when it gets really quiet at the end, I sneeze really loud and scare all the painters, that'd be just my luck.
Symphony is tomorrow night. In that, we're playing Bacchanale from Samson et Delilah, Slavic Dance no. 1, Mozart's Sinfonia concertante for violin and viola, and Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor (by Bach, orchestrated by Stokowski). This is going to be a kick ass concert, and Marta and tons of my other friends are coming to it, which is exciting.
Weekend = break! On Saturday, we're doing Christmas movie day. Meaning, hanging out in pjs, watching movies, drinking tons of hot chocolate and possibly making Christmas decorations, if I can get out and get some cranberries tomorrow. It'll be me, Marta, Hannah (it's at Hannah's apartment), Amanda and Tyler (for LoveActually). Oh, and of course, Charlie will be there! Marta hasn't met Charlie the Rat yet, so this'll be fun. Then Sunday, I'll be writing papers, studying and practicing for piano, and cello jury. Thankfully this year we don't have to do a jury for composition, he's having us write a paper and turning in all the music we worked on for the term.
Monday morning is our orchestration film score concert. This will be... interesting. But at least, when that's over, that damn project will be done with, forever!
Then Tuesday night is the Piano III accompaniment recital. I'm playing Apres un Reve, by Faure. It's gorgeous, but I think I might have taken on more than I can handle with this one. Playing it in class today didn't go so badly, but it still needs a lot of work.
