Another TFP thought
Had another idea about 4x03 a few days ago. I don't believe that that's what happened, but it's a possibility.
The events of The Final Problem didn't happen that way - what we're seeing is just the story John posted on his blog.
Maybe the real events contain info that can't be made public yet. But people expected John to post something, so it would have been suspicious if there were no new entries. Maybe he had to tell this story, because bits and pieces of it were already public.
It's interesting that in the previous episode John's blog was mentioned several times. And as of S4 its rl-counterpart isn't updated anymore.
And then Gatiss said something that happens to fit nicely with that idea:
“Social media is a huge double-edged sword,” says Gatiss, “a terrifying mixture of things - it is frightening how easily manipulated we are.”
