Hello livejournal. It's been a long time. It always is. My last post was in March, about being excited for Script Frenzy. After Script Frenzy was a complete and utter disaster, I'm writing a a post about National Novel Writing Month. I think I may be insane.
What am I thinking about writing? A fantasy-- well, not so much fantasy but fictional medieval setting, without elves and wizards-- romance. Yes, I said romance. Not quite a romance novel, and not quite a Arthurian courtly romance like Sir Gawain and the Green Knight or Yvain: The Knight of the Lion. Somewhere in between. Yeah, I'm insane.
But The Ranger and The Maiden could be really good. I've never considered writing a novel before. I've never had an idea that I thought could sustain itself for more than a few dozen pages. I'm not even sure if this one could, but it may be worth a shot.
But, I may not even have time to write, as another part in another show may have fallen into my lap. Cornstock Theatre's production of A Christmas Carol wasn't able to fill all the parts, namely Fred, Scrooge's nephew (who also plays young Scrooge in the Ghost of Christmas Past scenes). I have an informal audition tomorrow afternoon. If I get in this will be the third part that I've just stumbled into-- maybe Peoria still has more to offer me than I thought.
In other news tomorrow is my first day substitute teaching. Half day really, but it's a start. I'll be filling in for an English class at El Paso Highschool-- a full week sooner than I thought it would even be possible to get a call as I won't be put on the regional list till next month. I'm signed up in the Marshall-Putnam-Woodford region so I can get calls from all the rural schools. Peoria county has a few more hoops to jump through, as does Tazewell, so I'm going to have to be fingerprinted two more times and then visit all the schools in person. But once I get signed up at enough schools I should be able to work every day ( and it even pays more money than I thought it did).
So that's all that is exciting in my life.
