How you Fit...

She heard a car pull up in front of her apartment and saw lights through the slats of the mini-blinds.

"Oh Shit!" Sabrina said aloud, louder than she had intended. She hoped no one heard her.

She felt like crap and could not get herself motivated to get ready for the date she had with Mark tonight until about fifteen minutes ago, and now he was here.

Darn You! Why do you always have to be so punctual? She thought to herself.

She heard him knock on the door. She still had her pajama pants on with the shirt she was planning on wearing out. The bags under her eyes could have been used to hold off hurricane Katrina and her hair, well let's just say she hadn't done anything to it since she took a shower that morning.

"Just a second!" she yelled in the direction of the door, her voice cracking on the word second.

Frantically trying to something to tame her appearance, she grabbed a come and a ponytail holder, put her hair into a bun that looked like a kindergarten aged boy did it, and walked in the direction of the door. Opening the door, she saw Mark with the biggest bouquet of daisies she had ever seen in her life.

"Thought I'd mix it up a bit." Mark smiled "Wow, you don't look good" mark said softly with a concerned look on his face.

"Thanks?" Sabrina moaned, rolling her eyes.

"No... that's not what I meant. You know you always look beautiful," Mark said frantically "But tonight you look...ill. What's wrong?"

"Nothing, I'm fine, I was just being lazy today, and you are always so annoyingly punctual" She said not very convincingly. As if on key her voice became horse as she began to speak.

"No, I know you better than that and you know it. You never do nothing if you can help it and you do not have a naturally raspy voice, but it always gets that way when you are either overtired or sick. So which is it? Are you lying to me about being sick or have you been out late with some other guy?" Mark quipped

"Okay you caught me," Sabrina said, rolling her eyes "Derek and I have had a little something going on on the side. I didn't want you to find out this way but... No, I guess I've just been a little under the weather today, but..."

Mark cut in "Do you have a fever?"

"Ummm..." Sabrina hesitated

"okay, you aren't going anywhere tonight, sorry." Mark stated

"But..."

"No buts babe, except yours on the couch, I will not have you getting sicker because of me and then laying in a hotel room all by yourself halfway around the world. I will not have that on my conscience. Sorry!"

"but I wanted to spend the evening with you. It's one of the last days we are going to be together before I leave." Sabrina said sadly

"Who says we can't be together? Marky will take care of you."

"No, you cant!" Sabrina said, not even believing herself when she said it "I don't want you to get sick too."

"Well then I won't kiss" Mark said flatly

"Well that's a bummer"

"Just kidding" Mark said sweetly "would gladly get sick if it meant getting to kiss you one more time"

"Awww! That's sweet, I think? Is it?"

"Go lay down and Marky will make you feel better."

"Oooh, dirty" Sabrina quipped.

"Even when you are sick your head is still in the gutters, what are we going to do with you? NOW! Go lay down before I do it for you myself." Mark said with a very serious tone in his voice.

"I'd like to see that." she jested

"Fine" Mark said, scooping her into his arms and walking over to the couch. She snuggled deep into his chest. Maybe tonight won't be so bad after all. She thought to herself.

He sat down on the couch with her still craddled in his arms and pulled her deeper into the crook of his arm. He grabbed the blanket off the back of the couch and spread it over them.

"I'm feeling better already" she mumbled.

He kissed her forehead as he smoothed the flyaway hairs from her ponytail.

"Wow! you are burning up. When was the last time you took your temperature?" He asked

"I don't know" Sabrina mumbled "who cares?"

"I care. I think you have a fever. Where do you keep your thermometer?"

"I don't have a thermometer." She said, sounding annoyed.

"Well I am going to get you some Tylenol because you definitely have a fever. What do you want to drink?"

"Ugh. Will you quit hounding me? You're like my mom. I don't want anything to drink. I am not thirsty."

"Well you need to drink something, you need fluids when you are sick. I'm getting you a Sprite, do you want anything else?" he asked while standing up and laying Sabrina gently down on the couch. He tucked the blanket all around her like a parent tucking their child into bed.

"No, not now, thanks" She said.

"Okay" he said, kissing the top of her head. "Wow" he seemed taken aback, "getting that Tylenol now." He said as he walked out of the room and into the kitchen.

Truth be told she liked having him here, even if he was acting like an overprotective mother. She was already feeling better than when she was alone and she liked having the company. She knew it was to early to be thinking like this but she liked how good he was at taking care of her, it made her think that he would be good at taking care of kids someday. She watched him maneuver around her kitchen. She loved how he knew where everything was. He just looked like he fit there. He fit in her life so perfectly. He molded like clay to every nook any cranny of herself, from how he knew his way around her kitchen, to the way he was with her family and friends and even how her head fit so perfectly on his chest and she felt so safe in his arms, so right. He fit, and she loved it.

Mark walked back into the room with a whole bunch of stuff in his arms.

"What is all that stuff?" she asked

"Well, we've got your pillow" he said as he lifted her head up kissing her as he slid it under her head. "Tylenol" he said as he handed it to her. "Sprite. Take the medicine" he commanded "it will make you feel better."

"Fine." she said as she rolled her eyes. "If you insist." She sat up and took the medicine, handing the cup back to him.

"I also brought you some Saltine Crackers, butter toast, ans a clean shirt and pants because you look like you have been wearing those for awhile, and fresh clothes always make me feel better when I am sick. Now drink something, it will help you get better quicker" Mark said.

"Okay, I will... on one condition." Sabrina said

"And what might that be?"

"Hep me change my clothes."

" Are you serious?" Mark said rolling his eyes

"Yes, I don't have enough strength" Sabrina said, trying to fight back a smile

"Fine, sit up." Mark commanded with a devilish grin on his face.
