I'll try to keep this short. You know I won't say anything about anyone else cuz I never really pay attention. Well ok...maybe about Kris. He got robbed by a crappy arrangement. Still love the little budding new Mraz though. Matt needs to stick with the bluesy stuff and I'll like him but Ricky needs to tone down the band with him. I know that brass players are brass players cuz they got big brass ones but they need to tone it down and sombebody needs to teach "sound" how to mic an orchestra ( ... )

Adam did muff the lyrics - "going nowhere with the daily races," when it should have been "bright and early for their daily races."

But I don't think he missed a line. I'm assuming the lyrics were just tweaked because the song has to be shortened for the performance.

That was my point...as far as the song being tweaked. They have to shorten them anyway but my thought is that a decision was made to further clip it in the last minute because the freaking director and stage managers couldn't do their jobs correctly and keep the show on schedule. I don't wonder if the last minute changed didn't throw Adam off enough to also cause the actual lyrical error.

Are you saying that you think the song was edited even further on the night than originally planned? You know FAR more about this stuff than I do and that hadn't crossed my mind. Because that would be enough to throw anyone!!!

If you don't mind me asking what do you mean by sing the edit cold?

We don't get the pimpmercials over here, they even blurr out the coke on the glasses the judges drink from, but I have looked that one up and it is definitely with the wonderful. Allison and Adam seem to have grasped the feel of the piece more than the others but they also have the best section :-). This is the one video that I wish were longer, I could definitely have done with more of this and you're totally right, Shane Drake and Adam should definitely collaborate again.

I adored how Adam now has his baby-drag prodigy in Allison.
I am so with you here. oatmeal-cookie mentions how Allison's personality seems to come out more around Adam, Megan and Kris than the others and I think she's right on the money there.

Just following from adamlambertai8, and I wanted to ask if you'd heard Adam's performance of Come To Me, Bend To Me, in the musical Brigadoon? Because it shows just how rich his lower range is. It's not the kind of music he's interested in singing, but ooooh, it's pretty awesome to hear. I personally love his falsetto, I always love a strong falsetto on a man, but it's great to hear the difference as well, and I do hope he brings out the richer side of his voice at least once on the show.

I hadn't heard that but I have now, thank you for the link :-D. I, like you, love the falsetto, it's more out of interest than anything else that I would like to see him use the lower range. I'm in complete agreement with theloa on adamlambertai8 that he sings in the sweet zone of his voice, you can tell that he's very comfortable by the clarity and purity of his notes in that range, and that lower is probably takes slightly more effort but I think it would be worth it :-)

Been enjoying your analysis, although I suck at commenting.

Thought you might be interested in Adam's take of Allison's Bonnie Raitt song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYKaIWWeulI

I was sort of hoping he'd pull it out one of these weeks, but now I guess not.

I actually attended the rehearsal taping of that ep, and the difference was that he didn't try for the note in the rehearsal. My guess it that was a spur of the moment decision to go high. I thought he recovered it so quickly that it hardly mattered.

That song is so depressing, and his version literally brings me to tears.

Well this week I think she did a very good impression of emotionally connecting with the music. She didn’t fully manage it, I didn’t feel she was living the song, but it was a very very good presentation of it.

I feel the same way, but considering she's way too young to have experienced anything like that I think she did an amazing job making it believable. It's probably my favorite performance of hers to date.

The original is wonderful, the Gary Jules version is fabulous in its own right and this version was right up there with them.

I agree completely. I have all three on my ipod, and Adam's version is just as good as the other two. The vocals are brilliant, and the production is surprisingly good for AI.

I've got all three as well :-D.

It's probably my favorite performance of hers to date.

That's definitely the case for me :-)

the production is surprisingly good for AI.

So true, because if we're being really honest, they're just not. But this one, and Kris' 'To Make You Feel My Love' are both very well done :-)

1. Waitress is beautiful. I love that movie so much, everything about it was perfect.

2. And with Allison it’s not that we don’t like her, it’s that we don’t know her. She’s not coming across as someone innately memorable, and she needs to.

I completely agree. I loved her vocal on this one (the studio version is even better), she's a phenomenal singer and will go far in her career no matter what happens on the show, but when Simon started talking about her personality (and lack thereof) I couldn't help but nod my head like a crazy person. I guess I hadn't realized nor thought of it before, but he was right. Your chances of surviving week after week gets better if the people watching latch on to your personality, and are willing to forgive an off-night. She's young and she probably doesn't know herself as well as the older contestants, but we already see little glimpses of her personality when she's around Adam, Kris and Megan, and it would be really nice if that came out a bit more.

3. I really didn’t expect to find it anywhere ( ... )

I love your notes, ramble as much as you like :-D. I always find them incredibly informative.

Just this, this is absolutely right :-). This is what I meant to say just so much more concise and succinct than I managed :-D
