Mind you, this isn't the first shit that I've encountered. They had my social security number wrong earlier, thereby fucking up the whole registering for classes thing; I didn't get put into Abel with my learning community; My NCard (UNL ID) didn't work right; they gave me a roommate that smokes; and now this:
(Scene: Two girls, college age, Kaylin, the bustier of the two, and Cady, the taller, approach the East elevator of Cather Hall. Cady has a vase of roses in hand. They are talking. The elevator arrives, the doors open. The two step inside, press "13", the doors close. They are still talking, unaware of the misfortune that is about to occur. 10, 11, 12, the floors pass, 13. The doors open. Cady, keys in hand, moves to exit the elevator. The key ring slips from her fingers and into the gap between elevator car and the 13th floor. A stunned silence follows while the girls listen as the key ring, with all of Cady's keys on it, plummets 14 floors. They hear the muted crash as they hit the bottom. Swearing ensues, coupled with the hysterical laughter that sometimes follows a severe shock. Back down the girls go to the front desk where they are informed that they need to go back over to the front desk at Niehardt Hall to get a form so Cady can have a loaner key. Also, it seems the maintenance people can no longer retrieve keys in the elevator shaft. The elevator company has to do that and that costs $150. The other option is to let the keys just chill at the bottom of the elevator and have the locks recored for $30. While walking to Niehardt to get the aforementioned form, Cady calls her father to inform him of the situation. He is not pleased. The girls return to Cather and find that, interestingly enough, there is no loaner key. Oops. Well, that is odd, isn't it? Cady and Kaylin are finally let into the room and while Kaylin proceeds to eat all of Cady's food, Cady calls her mother to tell her of the situation. Then the girls go to a gay bar to blow off steam. End Scene)
