Back from Italy. I had the most amazing time. The presentations and tours weren't nearly as bad as we all feared...except for Microsoft which was a killer. The tour of the shoe factory was pretty amazing, everything is made by hand. The best presentation was probably the one by the Leo Burnett advertising agency (they handle the ads for Marlboro, P&G, Kraft, Pirelli, and others).
We took so many pictures it's disgusting. Tom Tom had the best camera ever and he had us do all sorts of artsy poses. I definitely made some new friends: Susan, Erin B., Erin M., Oumou, Danielle, PGA/Pietro, Peter, Tom Tom, Monique, and Will. Totally wonderful people.
Milano was the first stop and there we went to Duomo and saw the 4th largest cathedral in the world...and almost got kicked out for climing on the ledges to take pictures. There actually were security guards who followed us for the rest of our tour.
Of course we did Roma for the second part of the trip. Roma is beautiful; we went to the Colosseum, the place where Julius Caesar was killed, the Pantheon, the Vatican/St. Peter's, the Spanish Steps, and a million other places. Friday was the free day so part of my group walked all over the city, at least 8 miles no joke...from the Vatican to the other side of the city where we shopped a lot and our hotel was. I'm pretty sure we all actually lost weight in Italy instead of gaining it.
We ate a ton of pizza and pasta and bread and gorged on gelati every single day, even had it for breakfast at the airport the last morning.
I didn't spend nearly as much money as I thought I did...only about 300 euros total. I did get a lot of gifts though, necklaces, postcards, a gladiator helmet keychain, 2 soccer jerseys, 2 winestoppers, a Godfather t-shirt, and a few other things.
A gelati reunion in the city is happening some time this month, yes!
