Earth Hour!
This could be one of the easiest way for us to take a stand and support our planet. We may not have our very own super powers like the kids from Captain Planet but even for just an hour we can contribute a lot to helping our planet. Go Planet! :)
And so, on March 28, 2009 at exactly 8:30pm, I'm asking all of you who are concerned about our environment, our planet to switch off your lights. It'll be for just 1 hour. What harm can it do to you? Nothing right?
To quote an email that I got from my blockmate:
If you care about our planet, and if you care about our future, turn off your lights for one hour and join the rest of the world in this wonderful statement. I know it seems like a small thing to do but imagine how much carbon we could reduce if all of us take part in this activity.
Turning off your lights for one hour is a statement, not just to the rest of the world but to yourself. Apathy in this cause is inexcusable, unless you’re suicidal, emo or devoid of life or meaning (J). It’s such a simple thing to do that to not do it speaks volumes about who you are as a person, as a citizen of this planet. (If you don’t vote Earth, you don’t belong here! :P)
So please, go online and make your vote official. Don’t just say you’ll do it, promise that you’ll do it and announce it to the rest of the world (so that if you end up not doing it, you’ll have to live with the guilt that once you were supposed to do something soooo small outside of yourself but you never lived up to it).
