I'm on top of the world right now. Here goes...
Ok, so had a fire dept. drill tonight. We went to the high school, and after talking and doing random things mike says "ok, we'll split into teams and turn this into a competition to see which team can pull a hose up to the third floor". These are 150 foot lengths of hose mind you. We split into teams of 3. Other team went first, and did it in 52 seconds. We said "OK we'll beat that!" and just joking around tommy says "and we'll do it in 51 just to make you feel better" and ironically enough, we did do it in 51.
So now tommy said he wanted to do it again. We were all for it. He started talking shit with the chief just joking around, chief cook comes over and says "it SHOULD be 43 seconds tommy" he said "we'll beat that, we'll do 37" "ok, i wanna see 37" "no screw that we'll do 33!" So we went up, and we did 35. Not what we wanted, but a big improvement. The other team goes, and THEY do it in 33. We got REAL pumped. These first two rounds, we did it with just our fire jackets and gloves on, not the bunker pants and helmets.
Now we say "Fuck that! We'll beat 33, with FULL GEAR ON. We're packin up!" 'packin up' means putting on the air packs. They add quite a bit of weight. We didnt turn the air on, just had em on our backs. So we went, and WE DID IT IN 30 SECONDS! THIRTY!!! Oh my god you shoulda heard us roar. we got to the top and they called out our time we just "HELLYEAHWHOOOOAJNOKMEFOINEOUICNIOUNOJ!NL!!!! WHAT NOW???THIRTY SECONDS WITH PACKS!!!" oh my god man, i'm like floating im so happy. AWESOME way to spend my night. I am feelin GREAT.
