It's that time of year again: another asshat parent discovers their precious snowflake's high school literature assignments aren't all about puppies and flowers, and promptly throws a hissy fit

Now, many of you know that I have read many books with no intention of stopping any time soon.
So, of course this is the kind of thing that gets under my skin. Thank God my parents (my mother in particular) shared their love of books with me from an early age. They also recognized that I was intelligent for my age and encouraged me to read ahead of my grade level.
So, to the book banning dumb fucks, I ask you, do you enjoy restricting your child's imagination? Does it make you feel good that your child will be a dumbass and may never enjoy certain books because you don't want them introduced to them?
I am not advocating that children should look at pornography, but damn...
Have these people never read any Greek myths? Shakespeare? How about the goddamn Bible??

-Adultery
-Murder
-Violent political insurrection
-Torture
-Graphic violence
-Patricide/Matricide/Infanticide
-Cannibalism
-Bestiality
-Pedophilia
And this is what the PROTAGONISTS (aka the "good guys") are doing in the stories!!
How about we leave the Crusades and the Spanish Inquisition out of history classes because it might offend Catholics to learn about the Church's past? Or leave out Pearl Harbor so as not to offend Japanese students and the Holocaust to not offend Jewish and German students? How about no talking about the Civil War so as not to offend African-American students or Southerners? No learning about the conquest of the Americas by Cortez so as not to offend Hispanic students, or the European-American conquest of the West so as not to offend Native American students...
BTW, while you're getting books banned from the school library, your kid is blowing a 38 year old she met on Facebook because you didn't bother actually supervising the child yourself. And probably doing those nasty, Godless things that she learned watching all that internet porn too.
