I was all hyped up about going to the different Harry Potter book release parties tomorrow night, and had planned to stay in this evening, cleaning the house. I decided to call a friend of mine (that I hadn't talked to in ages) about how excited we both are about book 6 coming out, and I bragged that I was finally going to go to one of the midnight releases tomorrow night. She was like, "You mean, tonight?" I was confused and said, "Nooo, I'm going to the midnight party on the 16th. Waiiiiiiiiiiit . . . !" I'm so damn happy I called Desiree, otherwise I totally would have tried to go to the party tomorrow night, and then would have cried when I realized I missed it.
So James and I went . . . The 'party' was extremely disappointing, as are most fan-based events I've attended; I think for a living I should be the event planner for things like that. I did, however, get some sweet temporary HP tattoos (hah! but I'm totally wearing one tomorrow on the inside of my wrist; we'll see who catches on and who just looks at me funny), a chocolate frog (mmmm!), and HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE!!! I was disappointed that more people didn't show up to the Borders party I went to (I bet the one on Ponce was better than the one on Peachtree!), but then I remembered that I'm not in Kansas Alabama anymore, and that there are actually several big bookstores in Atlanta for fans to go to, thus scattering everyone around. In Enterprise (well, Dothan, actually), there's only one big bookstore (BAM) for all the local HP fans to go to, so it's a really big party (or so I'm told; I never did end up going to one, but always heard about it). Oh well. I got my book, so I'm happy.
