Personality:Debra Morgan is dearly damaged. She was a girl who always wanted her father's love, but at the same time she's the sort of person who pretends that she doesn't need it. There's a loneliness in Deb, despite how much of a happy and a part of the boys club persona she has on. This persona means that she often hides how sensitive she can be, and how hurt she gets over things.
Deb can be crass and rude, but she's also open and honest and is never afraid to keep her mouth shut, even when it would be in her best interests to do so. This impulsiveness permeates not only the brain to mouth filter (Deb really doesn't have one), but also her emotions. She's reckless with her heart and her trust, and she gives her faith away far too easily. Everything Deb does she does it with her whole self.
The problem is that Deb tends to sell herself short a fair amount of the time. She thinks of herself as a fuckup, and she always thinks that things that go badly are her own fault. This is especially true in love, as Debra Morgan is considerably unlucky in it. She dated and got engaged to the serial killer that she was hunting in the first season, got together with an older FBI agent who was unknowingly hunting her brother in the second, got involved with a CI in the third, then cheated on said CI with the FBI agent in the fourth. Then he died and Deb blamed herself over it.
When she blames herself for something, or sees some sort of failing in herself, she tosses herself into work, always trying to be the best. Being the best is important because it means she's living up to high standards, and it's something that she can show people when they start to get her down. 'See. See I'm a fucking detective, what the fuck are you?"
Deb has an over-developed sense of justice, and it's something that has gotten her into trouble before. She is willing to go outside the rules in order to right a wrong or catch a murderer. This is something that will translate to Gray in going against her superiors if she needs too.
