IN CURRENT time line Peter is just trying very hard to keep people at a distance because nobody knows him. He's obviously not nearly as okay as he seems but he has no one to fall back on... except Lincoln. Lincoln is the only person who has stood up for him and not seen him as a threat, and I think he's the only one who ever asks him if he's okay. Even Olivia is wary of him and blames him for Walter being upset, so of course he'd care about Lincoln, since Lincoln is pretty much the only one he's got.
THEN AT CAMP at first he just grabbed on to Lincoln because it was easy, but then red thread happened and they talked more and he was very surprised Lincoln hadn't been sleeping because he seems so together... slightly awkward, but not terribly upset. And throughout the month he became a very close friend. So up until... four days ago Lincoln was his closest friend and also a sort of lifeline. It'd be so easy for Peter to just be an asshole about everything, but Lincoln has tried to be there and understand, and he sort of gets Peter. So now Peter is like "OKAY LET'S DO THIS" because well, they're on the same page, having him close is comforting and it's not like camp will let them go further than kissing.
Sexual orientation is not exactly a nonissue but it is buried beneath so many more immediately relevant issues that he hasn't really given it much thought.

Peter is just someone he gels with well. Lincoln likes people well enough, but he's closed off in some respects. Peter gets under his skin a bit and gets him to some degree. He was taken by surprise by how Peter helped him during the red thread stuff; it really touched him. He's just . . . a good guy.
AND PRETTY MUCH, what Lincoln said during their giant thread is how he feels. He is attracted to him. It could be interesting and work out well. At the same time, it is hard for him to really start opening up to someone in a relationship. He's probably had a few! They probably haven't gone well in the end because he hasn't let them in as much. So that is A Thing. I don't even know what I'm talking about at this point. Peter is there for him. He enjoys it. He's interested in seeing where this could go, but it's also a bit ". . . not sure if want . . ." to some degree.

In all honesty, he is probably fine in bed. RELATIVELY VANILLA, but decent. It's like how with the physical stuff in his job, just by looking at him, you would think he sucks hardcore at shooting and taking someone down, but no, he's awesome. IT'S TOTALLY THE SAME IN BED. shut the hell up.
