BACKGROUND:
Church is the son of a very busy doctor. His mother died to due birth complications, and after that his father threw himself completely into work.
So Church grew up learning to take care of himself, developing that selfish, 'no one else matters but me' mindset. He snapped at other kids, threatened them, and phone calls home from school and concerned parents about these incidents usually just led to his dad trying to ground him, before rushing back off to work and forgetting about his punishment.
When Church was about eleven, a girl moved in to the house beside him. For the next few years, walking back and forth to school was hell, as she'd tag along with him just to insult him and steal his lunch money. Still, somehow, they ended up dating a few years later. Though she still likes to steal his money.
Church knew he was a mutant from when he was about fourteen, and thought it was pretty fucking cool. Usually he used his powers to 'haunt' people; moving things, going invisible and sneaking up on people... pretty harmless pranks like that. But his lovely girlfriend convinced him one day that it was a good idea to possess a teacher. To an obnoxious teenager like him? Yeah, sure, it sounded like a pretty funny idea...
Then he was caught and, obviously, this did not go down well with the staff, his father, and most of the other students' parents.
Though Church couldn't care less, his father made it clear he wasn't going to forget about this incident, and that his son could jeopardize his position at work and social standing. Clearly, the best option was to ship him off to mutant school and brag he was going to a special higher-learning facility instead.
PERSONALITY:
Leonard L. Church is an asshole. No, really. He's self-centred, rude, pessimistic, sarcastic-- the list could go on. His most obvious trait is the fact that he is constantly angry. At everyone and everything. Even he tiniest little thing can set him off on a rant or stream of curses. Despite the fact he's all these negative things Church is pretty happy being this way. Most of the other people he knows are morons, so he doesn't see the point in being nice to them. As long as they'll let him boss them around, everything is good.
Church much prefers taking the leadership position. He doesn't like being bossed around, and he also doesn't trust anyone else to do anything right. He's not exactly the best leader, but he's somewhat sane and has common sense, both things that the others in Blood Gulch were severely lacking in. If someone proves themselves to be intelligent and capable enough, he's happy to listen to what they have to say: but he's not willing to be bossed around by them.
He's also very willing to shove someone else into the line of fire to save his own skin. But it's not cowardice. Really. There are other people more disposable than him, so logically it makes sense for them to be his meat shield. Duh.
Okay, despite being an utter self-centred douche bag, there is a part of Church that cares. It's only a tiny part of him, but it still exists. Tex is probably the best example: they bitch and back-stab each other constantly, but Church is more than willing to do anything for her. In his odd little way. Other people may be dragged along for the ride, but fuck if he'll let them know some chick is behind his actions.
APPEARANCE:
Church has bright blue eyes, is very pale, tall, and surprisingly quite lanky. He has fairly long, but spiky black hair that he doesn't bother doing anything with, as well as ever-present stubble on his chin. He has a very pale complexion and also looks like he's constantly angry about something. Which he always is. He also wears a lot of blue clothing.
POWERS: Church can turn into a sort of 'ghost form' of himself. In this form he can walk through solid objects, disappear for short periods of time and can even possess other people.
