CHARACTER
NAME: Claire Bennet
FANDOM: Heroes
TIMELINE PERIOD: Taken from mid-How To Stop An Exploding Man, just as she died on the streets of New York after dropping several stories from an open window, mere moments prior to the November 8th explosion.
BACKGROUND: Claire was born out of wedlock to Meredith Gordon after a short tryst with the elusive bigshot New York politician Nathan Petrelli. While she lives peacefully with her mother in their apartment for about a year, with parents like hers-- her father can fly-- it's hard to stay under the radar, and Primatech Paper-- the Company looking for the specials to bag and tag them in order to keep track of them all-- comes after Meredith, who is pyrokinetic. Meredith, however, starts a fire in the apartment and escapes, forced to leave Claire behind. At that point, the Company takes her into custody, and, wanting to see whether she would manifest, hand her over into the care of Noah Bennet, one of their best Company Men.

Under the pretense of a normal adoption, Claire grows up to be a normal girl with a normal life in Odessa, Texas. Her father works at a paper factory-- or so she thinks-- her mother breeds showdogs-- one of which is their own Pomeranian Mr. Muggles-- and she has an annoying adoptive younger brother. Claire herself is a popular girl at her High School, where she cheerleads. All of this comes to a head when she manifests her ability to regenerate from almost any mortal wound, healing herself rapidly.

At this point, she becomes a bit of an outcast while her father tries to hide any semblance of abnormalcy from her life to keep her from being taken into custody of the Company. But secrets as large as hers aren't easily kept hidden, and very soon, Noah's own background with the Company catching up to him, a long string of events lead to the Company discovering Claire's ability. In order to protect Claire, Noah lets his coworker and friend take her away to safety while he has his memory of Claire wiped, taking a bullet in his side to fool the Company into thinking that it wasn't set up.

On the way to a new life in Canada, Claire fools her traveling companion and ends up instead in New York to see Peter Petrelli, the man she's met on previous occasion when the notorious serial killer Sylar came after her to steal her amazing regenerative ability. Unbeknownst to her at the time, Peter is her uncle, brother to her father Nathan. With Peter at the time otherwise occupied, she instead runs into her grandmother Angela Petrelli who insists that she leave for Paris in order to stay safe. But in a miraculously grand display of the best laid plans, when the bomb fated to destroy New York November 8th nears and Peter almost dies because of Sylar, thereby reuniting Claire with both him and her biological father once more, things come to a climax relatively quickly.

At one point, she tries to escape from her biological grandmother and father and drops several stories onto the streets below, effectively (temporarily) killing her. At least... that's what would happen typically. Instead, this time she finds herself waking up and picking herself up from the decks of the ship headed to Rivelata instead of the streets of New York.

As a whole, Claire is stubborn, foolhardy, and, at the same time, deeply insecure and has an extreme penchant for getting herself into trouble and getting hurt. It's as if traumatic experiences and drama of all sorts seemingly follow her wherever she goes. Really, all she wants to do is be herself-- she's spent plenty of time trying to come to terms with her ability and who she is that at this point, she doesn't want to hide it anymore, rather, she wants to embrace it. She also puts huge emphasis on family-- she cares about her adoptive father more than anyone else. Due to her unique ability, she will always remain perpetually 16, effectively making her immortal as her cells regenerate on a constant basis, keeping her in an aging stasis of sorts while her mind continues to grow.

THIRD PERSON: Something was distinctively off.

If it wasn't in the fact alone that she wasn't peeling herself off the dirty, murky streets of New York city, picking herself up again to keep running in the uncomfortable, expensive clothes her grandmother had put on her as if she was some porcelain doll to be locked away in a glass cabinet to be shown off...

Well, then it was the air.

Salty, somehow.

The floor under her swayed and she felt herself overcome with a more or less nauseous feeling.

That was off, too.

Sitting up, she felt her body somehow lurch back into gear... slowly.

A strange feeling.

Never mind, of course, that she was, for some off reason, not racing through the streets of New York in order to find Peter and stop the bomb--

Peter.

She was on what looked like a... pirate boat... surrounded by...

Why was everyone dressed so strangely?

And where was Peter?

Maybe they'd be arriving soon, she thought vaguely to herself. Then she'd be able to ask all the questions on her mind. This was all her fault-- it had to be-- and somehow, Claire had a really horrible feeling about all this in the pit of her stomach.

FIRST PERSON: I have no idea what's going on. I don't know where dad is-- or even Peter! I'm really worried, though. It's just like me to get into a mess like this. I have a feeling that... "grandmother" of mine will appear at any second now, too, to tell me that this is my own fault for trying to get away from her. It's her own fault. Foolhardiness and stubbornness seem to run in the family.

I really need to see if I can find Peter. He'd know what to do.

NOTES:
I decided to tone down Claire's ability by simply making the healing process slightly less accelerated than it would otherwise be. Other than that, she's still simply a stubborn, foolhardy, overly-dramatic 16-year-old girl and will be inclined to behavior more or less characteristic of someone her age with more than her fair share of responsibility on her shoulders.
