Feb 28. Orange Day

Feb 24, 2007 01:32

Hello,

My name is Andrea Breaux, mother to five year old Brayden Breaux. Brayden
passed away on December 29th 2006 from brain cancer. Unfortunately,
Brayden's case was not an isolated one. In fact, annually in the state of
Louisiana , there are 200 newly diagnosed cases of pediatric cancers. In
the small community of Cut Off alone, since Brayden's passing, two more
children have been diagnosed with cancer. Sadly, these children often face
poor prognosis and years of treatment. These children through out their
fight remain strong and continue to live life as normally as possible.
These children display amazing bravery and courage in their daily lives.
Brayden was one of those children. He was a happy, friendly child who made
friends where ever he went. Brayden loved the color orange. This was his
signature color and he often requested to wear orange on a daily basis. In
fact, he would often request that everyone wear orange. This was one of
his last request.

To honor Brayden and other children effected with life-threatening
illness, Louisiana Govenor, Kathleen Blanco, has proclaimed February 28th,
2007, "Orange Day". We are asking that on February 28th, 2007, please
wear orange to honor Brayden and all the other children our state effected
with life-threatening illnesses.

Please help bring awareness to childhood cancer and other life-threatening
illness by wearing orange on February 28th 2007. Please pass on this info
to others and show support. You may view the attached proclamation as
submitted to the Boards and Commission's Office for the State of
Louisiana. The official proclamation will be listed on the state's website
later this week. Please check back periodically through out the week to
view the official proclamation once posted to the state's site.
