Random thought for today
I used to go to youth group meetings at church when I was 13 or 14. My youth group leader was about to leave to take another position somewhere else so he was introducing the new youth group leaders that were to replace him. It was a bi-racial couple and when the woman stood up and introduced herself as "Dorcus" I let loose one of those PFFFFT's really loud and everyone turned and stared at me like her name wasn't funny and Dorcus herself gave me the death stare for the rest of my stay at that church. I was totally unprepared for the hilarity of that woman's name. I know it kind of seems mean for me to laugh but I mean, someone named Dorcus is either:
A] used to people thinking her name is funny [especially kids] or
B] has developed a sense of humor about her name or
C] has completely changed her name so no one ever knows her real name was ever Dorcus
But I guess it was secret answer D] grow increasingly bitter about her name until she decides to take it out on young children with an obvious appreciation for funny words.
I don't know why that popped into my head but it made me chuckle and I hope it made you guys chuckle too.
