Holy crap they put D.A.R.Y.L. on DVD.
In other news, it was my mom and my grandmother's birthday last night. We went to dinner and since I am so poor not only did I not get them anything, they paid for my dinner. But I did hug them and tell them I love them and that's all a mother and grandmother really need isn't it? My grandfather and I discussed the latest books we had our big noses in. His was The Man in The Grey Flannel Suit. My grandmother asked him what it was about and he said, "A man in a grey flannel suit." You can see where I learned to be a smart ass. The book I am currently into is a book called Star Trek Memories by Shatner. I told him all about what I had learned so far and I'm pretty sure he was interested. He doesn't hear so well so he may not have heard most of what I said. We also spoke of collaborating on a book. He really wants to document his life. He's been saying things like: "I've got more years behind me than ahead of me," and so on. I know it's true and if I seem a little unaffected it's not because I don't love him or that I'm insensitive toward the subject it's just that he's been preparing me for his death for almost 15 years and before that they were preparing me for my great grandparent's deaths. My mom would call out from the other room when I was four or five and say things like, "Come talk to your great grandma Higgins on the phone, she probably won't live much longer!" coincidently shes the only one of my great grandparents that is still alive. I think she's 98, but back to the collaboration. I was thinking a film or documentary rather than a book. He has hundreds of photos and he just has a way of speaking and telling a story. I just don't know if that will translate into text as well as onto film. I would have to take roughly a month to get everything for the film that I feel like I need. I would have to scan endless photos and interview him, my grandmother and all of their friends especially my grandfather's high school class. I'm actually somewhat of an honorary member of the class of 54 because I've been going to their reunions since I was 10 years old and the past few years I've been the photographer. So all of this would be a blast. It's just not a realistic goal right now.
