Leonard has a slightly nervous smile as he drives Spock up to the old house,  it's a humid day but the sky is clear, no one has been in the house in about ten years so there will need to be some cleaning done but that shouldn't take too long. "Well this is it."

As the lights flicker, Spock stiffens a little more before the house finally goes completely dark around them. "I believe that idea is now out of the question, Leonard." He said, a different tone to his voice. Maybe he was getting emotionally compromised at this.

"Spock it's just a power outage because of the storm, the lights will be back out soon. Come on lets go build a fire in the fire place and well make some vegetable over the fire for you and some chicken noodle for me." He said taking Spock's hand and leading him into the living room and toward the fire place.

"I realize that. I am focused more on the noises of the storm outside of the house." He explained in a sort of huffed tone before following Leonard downstairs to the living room. "The interior needs cleaning. Did you plan on us doing that while we were--" He flinched as he sat down, but more at the clap of lightening that flashed and the thunder that followed after it before Spock settled. "--visiting your house for the duration of shore leave?"

"We just need to dust." He said with a shrug, "No ones lived here in about 10 or 15 years, Sam got assigned to Star-base 16, and I was in med school at Old Miss and a few other things." Leonard says loading the fire place up with wood from the pile next to it, it takes a few minutes but he gets a fire going, which helps light the living room. "There's a box of candles in the closet, you want to grab those and I'll get the soup going?"

"The storm wont last long Spock.... and the cleaning will only take a day at the most."

Spock nodded, sitting stiffly and watching the windows. Leonard had already told him about the house and his sister on the drive up, so he was only partially listening before Len asked him to get the candles in the closet.

He got up and moved into the next hallway, hunting in the closet for the appropriate box. Finding it easily, the Vulcan pulled it out and shut the closet door just as another bit of lightening struck down, much closer this time, and a loud boom of thunder snarled right after it. The box dropped to the floor and the candles clattered within as Spock immediately moved away from the windows, hands up to his ears and leaning his forehead against the wall furthest from the windows.

[ Leonard hears the clatter and sets the soup cans and the two pots down by the fire place and walks over to Spock, wrapping his arms around the man's waist.]

What is lighting? What is thunder? Think about the science, the reason it happens. We are safe inside Spock. Nothing can hurt us here.

Spock doesn't move for a moment, hands still to his ears before he addresses Leonard. "I am not fearful of becoming injured. I am greatly displeased by the noise of the thunder."

"I'm sorry... so sorry it will be over soon, we'll do something to keep your mind off of it, I'll light the candles and get dinner going, I think in my old bedroom there may still be some boardgames in the closet." He says kissing the back of Spock's neck. "Why don't you go pick something out."

"I will make the soup, if you wish to look for the items in your closet." He said stiffly before straightening up. "If we draw the curtains shut, I do not think it will be that bad for me."

"I'll take care of things down here, if there's more thunder, we'll end up with soup all over the floor." He smiles softly. "Go up stairs and find some games." Leonard says moving Spock toward the stairs.

Leonard goes and sets up the fire place for cooking and puts the soup on, one vegetable and one chicken noodle. Before he goes and starts lighting candles with that done he closes the windows and pulls the curtains closed.

Spock huffed slightly, but moved upstairs to the bedrooms with a lit candle in hand. It was only a little dusty, and after checking another door, he found a hall closet and within a candle holder. Well that made things easier and within moments he was within Leonard's old room and in the closet, hunting for board games.

While hunting, he accidentally knocked over a book, which he promptly picked up...and paused. He gazed down at the pictures in the book, antique by their era, yet surprisingly familiar. The face within the pictures was anyways.

Leonard comes up the stairs to see what is holding Spock up. "Hey darlin' soups almost.... oh you found photos." He smiles.

"Yes, they are quite old." Spock was obviously trying to be careful with them as he flipped through the book's pages. "Human childhoods are quite different from a Vulcan's." he noted, not taking his eyes off of the pictures.

"I would think so... and well this was 2025... I was almost six." The points at two people. "those are my parents... this was about two years before they died and only a few months before we moved to mars." He says running his fingers over the photo lost in the memory for a moment.

Spock looked up from the pictures when Leonard reached out to run his fingers over it, taking in the look on the man's face. "I am glad you grew out of your chubby cheeks from your infantile days." He told him, a glitter of a smile in his eyes. Spock looked back down at the smiling adults in the picture. "You resemble your father quite a bit."

"Yeah... I guess I do." Theirs a faint smile on his face he nudges Spock a little with his shoulder. "My cheeks weren't that chubby." He laughs.
