Leonard laughs a little, feeling at ease with the situation he leans down and kisses Jim. "Ya know...meeting her is gonna be a big step Jim. You sure you're ready for that?" He had to ask, as much as he loves Jim, he has to put Jo first.

He pauses for a moment putting an arm around Jim. "Maybe I just worry to much."

He turned, flipping off the bedside lamp before slipping into bed. "I don't know what to tell her, Bones. I don't have much experience with telling kids how best to accept new...boyfriends of fathers. I just remember my mom met Frank, married him and brought him home and I was just expected to listen to him. And I definitely don't suggest that..." he lay back down, tucking his head under Leonard's. "Maybe you do worry too much."

"DADDY! POPSICLE! Get up, I gotta go to school!" Joanna took on the bed with a flying tackle and Jim woke up laughing, rolling out of the way of flying knees and elbows. "Oof, Jo! Good morning to you too!"
Reply
"Sorry daddy." She grins still sitting on the bed.
"Wadda you want for breakfast kiddo?" He says picking her up.
"Pancakes. I want pancakes for breakfast." She says happily swinging her legs and squirming in her dad's grip.
"You gonna help me make 'em?" He asks arching and eyebrow, tickling her stomach.
"Yes!" she laughs leaning backward looking at Jim upside down her hair hanging everywhere. "My Daddy is a good cook, like Gran. Can you cook Jim?" She says righting herself.
Leonard leans over and stage whispers in her ear, "He burns ramen."
"You let him eat Ramen...Daddy." She looks a little shocked.

Jim blinked. "Popsicle?"
"Yeah! Like Pop, but you're frozen 'cuz the hobgoblin marooned you on Delta Vega." Jo explained. Jim glanced over at Bones. "Please don't tell me you've been referring to my first officer as a hobgoblin in your vid-chats with Jo..."

"But you call him that, The Damn Hobgoblin, that's what you said...but then you told me never to say that." She says leaning her head on his shoulder.
"Yes Jo, but he knows I don't mean it in a mean way...Okay Jo? There are somethings that grown ups say, that kids can't, but I'll try not to call Spock that anymore okay?"
"Alright Dad." She says as he sets her down in the kitchen.
Leonard gets out all the fixings to make pancakes, then stands Jo on the back of the chair so she can mix them.
"What color do you want them JoJo?" He asks pulling out a box of food coloring.
"Purple please." She says happily.
Leonard adds a few drops of red food color and a few drops of blue and takes over the mixing. A short while later they are seated around the table eating breakfast.

"So, we were thinking about going shopping after school today, Jo." Jim told her, sitting down. "Is there anything in particular you'd like?"
"Can I have a new backpack?! And some barretts and pants for Ralph?" She asked, eyes wide. Jocelyn took her shopping but it was never really about what Jo wanted, just what she needed.
"You can have whatever you'd like, Jobear. Even if your Daddy is going to yell at me later tonight for spoiling you." he winked.
Eleanor came down just as they were finishing up breakfast. "Gran! Daddy and Popsicle said I can have annnnything I want from the mall today!"
Eleanor glanced at Jim, an eyebrow raised. "Popsicle?"

"Don't ask." He laughs.
"Jo we'll see about pants for Ralph maybe you can give him some of your old ones. We need to get you some cloths to where on the ship." He smiles "But a new backpack we can do."
Eleanor sits down at the table and puts some pancakes on her plate, the enjoy a family style breakfast Jo chatting happily about school.
Leonard leans over and whispers to Jim "We should tell her this is gonna be her last week there, then she's on vacation with us, we also need to get her enrolled in the fleet system."

"Jobear, we need to talk about school for a second."
"Yes?" she sat her fork down, hands folded in her lap.
"Well..." Jim glanced at Bones. "Since you're coming to live with us, you're gonna have to go to a whole new school on the ship. Your teachers are very nice though, some of my closest friends. You'll especially like Ms. Uhura, I think." He smiles and Jo smiles back. She already knew about the moving schools part.
"You won't start your new school until next month but your Daddy and I think maybe its a good idea for you to stop going to school on Friday, the end of the quarter, so you're not in the middle of things."

"JoJo, I know it's gonna be hard, but when ever you come back to Georgia you'll get to see them, and before we leave for San Francisco we'll come back here and invite them all over so you can say goodbye okay?"
"Alright." She says finishing her pancakes.
"Don't JoJo, just keep having fun and let the grownups worry about." Eleanor adds. "and I am sure you'll be making a lot more friends on the ship."
"Yeah Jo, you're not losin' any friends, you're just going off to make a lot more." Leonard says kissing Jo on the top of the head, now go brush your teeth and get dressed darlin' "
"I can pick out my own cloths?" She says excitedly, never really liking the cloths her mother picked for her.
"Yes, JoJo you're a big girl, just none of your costumes okay?" He laughs.
"Alright daddy." She says running off upstairs, stomping all the way.

Jo returned downstairs about 20 minutes later. SHe'd chosen a bright pink dress and white and lime green tights, with pink shoes. "Daddy, I'm ready!" she called.
"And bright." Jim smiled. He received a thump for that. "Popsicle!"

He held back a laugh when Jo came down stairs, she did look cute, tights pink converse, pink dress, at lest she matched. "You look lovely Jo." He said standing an pulling open a drawer in the kitchen taking out a hair brush and some hair ties. "How do you want your hair kiddo?"
"Two pony tales." She said standing in front of her father, Leonard did his daughters hair in a way that only a man who used to have long hair himself could have, quickly and neatly.
While Leonard was putting up Jo's hair out of her face Eleanor looked at Jim for a moment. "You're good for him you know." She paused, "But he can't take another broken heart, and now you've got Jo involved." She paused again taking him in, "If you hurt him, or her, I will end you." The threat only a mother who truly loved her son would make.
