Leonard laughs a little, feeling at ease with the situation he leans down and kisses Jim. "Ya know...meeting her is gonna be a big step Jim. You sure you're ready for that?" He had to ask, as much as he loves Jim, he has to put Jo first.

"Of course I am, Bones." He leaned up, kissing him gently. "I love you and I-...I want to be apart of your life. A big part. But if-..." He swallowed, fighting the lump in his throat. "If David were here, I'd want you to meet him before we went forward with this, us."

"I know Jim. I know." He pulls Jim into a tight hug. "I am happy you wanna meet Jo, and be a part of my family."

Jim just nodded, pressing his face to Bones' chest. Very few things made Jim fall silent and fight back tears, but his baby boy was one of them. Even though he'd been young, he'd wanted David so bad, and to have him die in his arms after living for only two hours struck Jim to the bones. It was part of why he was so involved in family accomodations aboard starships. The Enterprise was, as a matter of fact, the first starship in federation history to have a daycare and elementary classes.

"It's alright Jim." Leonard tries to sooth him, running his fingers thru the blond hair. "So where should we go with Jo on leave?" He asked trying to change the subject yeah it was late but he didn't want Jim falling asleep in this state.

"Does Jo like horses?" Jim asked, glad for the subject change. "It could be fun, the three of us riding horses...you'd have to teach me though. My Dad's parents have a house in Virginia that they left Sam and I...there's a ranch nearby so we could go there?"

"Yeah Jim, she loves to ride, I haven't ridden in years, but that sounds like a good plan. I'll call tomorrow and talk to Joce, plan it all out." He says starting to slip into a light doze. "Should call somebody and get the house set up." He yawns.

"I'll go ahead." Jim said. "You go to Georgia, pick Jo up. It'll give the two of you some time alone and-..." He yawned, wrapping his arms around Bones' waist as sleep began to claim him. "You can prepare her for me..."

"Sounds good Jim." He drifts off to sleep a smile on his face, holding Jim close to him in his sleep.

Jim woke first the next morning. He was on Alpha shift and even if they were too close to Earth for anything to really happen, he was still needed on the bridge on time. Kissing Bones' forehead, he slid out of bed and went to go shower.

Bones walks up a few hours later, and takes a long hot shower, looking forward to in a few weeks when they are finally back on Earth.

He checks the times in Georgia, and makes the call, he talks to Jo for awhile but doesn't say anything to her about spending a month with Him and JIm. He asks her to put her Mama back on... things go down hill from there, he finds out that Joce and Clay are putting Jo in an off planet boarding school next month, so the trip is a no go, he looses his cool, and Joce hangs up.

So by the time Jim gets back to their quarters, Bones is not in a good place.

Jim really wants to cry the minute he sees Bones. He'd known that Joce had said no just from the look on the older man's face, but when he'd found out why, he flipped.

"Boarding school?! How can they-...Bones, you can't let them do that! You're still her father, you still have rights! They can't just ship Jo off planet-..."

He fell silent for a moment, then said, "I'm calling Pike. If they don't want Jo anymore so much so that they're sending her to an off planet boarding school, then why don't they just send her here? Its the same thing!"

"Jim She got custody, I got visitation rights." he sighs and hides his face in his hands. "I would be okay...well more the okay with her comin' here. But How..." He shakes his head. "How can they just send her away...jus' cuse they want to see other worlds." He shudders.

"That's what I'm saying, Bones! By sending her away, they've basically given up their custody rights, said that they don't want that responsibility anymore. So let's get Chris on hte phone and see if he can talk to a family court judge for us."

[fuck_mars]

"Yeah...lets call Pike. " He nods. "We'll have to set up a room for her..." if this works goes unspoken, but hangs in the air. "Don't know why any judge would let a little girl live on a starship tho." Yeah gets negative when he is grumpy but can you blame him.
