an aunt of mine from the white side of my family came for a visit back when i was 18. she asked me if i had a boyfriend and i said yes then she sighed and said "thats a shame, i always thought you would marry michael." i was surprised and taken aback by her saying this considering that michael is her son and my cousin so i asked "isnt he my cousin?!?" and she said "well yeah but your uncle so and so and aunt so and so are cousins and they are married" and at that point in the conversation i politely smiled and backed away from the whole situation. thats when i truly realized that chiliwack and all the white people that occupy it was a phenomenon i would never be able to fully understand.
