Something horrible under the bath.

Oddly enough, all that gym work on Wednesday left me feeling fine yesterday, but even though I spent yesterday huddling at home, doing nothing in particular, today I feel stiff all over, especially in the knee. Looking out this morning I'm a little disappointed to see that the snow is still there. Meanwhile, on the radio, in a dramatisation of War and Peace, the French are retreating through the Russian winter, and they have all my sympathy, because I am a wuss about cold weather.

I finally nerved myself to have a shower in the very cold bathroom, only to find water coming through the living-room ceiling immediately after. Bum. Prising off the front panel of the bath revealed a horrible darkness and a smell of mould. Oh dear. Bum again. The plumber must be called. I suspect it is only something minor like a loose connection on the drain pipe, but the bath is so awkwardly positioned that it will be a swine to fix.

Just a note on yesterday's post - I think I meant that coat makes me look like a hot water tank, rather than a central heating boiler. A hot water tank looks like this and in the padded jacket, I look like this;

The resemblance is undeniable.

snow, knees, cold, plumbing
