Home at last!

Well, I’m finally home, only a week or so later than I thought I would be. I won’t go into a great deal of detail here, as I’m a bit tired, but basically, everything went fine (after an initial cock-up about operation timings when I was first admitted), apart from the wound, which was healing slower than expected, so that they suspected an infection. Dressings were changed, swabs were taken, and I hung around the ward getting more and more bored as we all waited for the wretched thing to dry up. There was no infection, but I am on antibiotics just in case, and the district nurse will look in tomorrow to check the dressing.

On the plus side, since I had to hang about for so long in the ward, most of the bruising has gone, and I am much more mobile than I was after my hip operation. Now, I’m just really, really happy to be back in my own place, with my own food and the prospect of being able to watch what I like on telly and sleep in tomorrow. Hooray!
