Minor work-related panic

Jul 27, 2010 21:49

Several days of continuous work, plus some vitamin/mineral supplements seem to have perked me up no end. I'll be sorry when this job is over, now. Today I processed 80 samples, and ordered (or tried to order) a lot of interestingly toxic chemicals) and for the second time in four days, emerged from the workshop in a cloud of solvent fumes to discover that the office had been locked up and everyone else had gone home. Clearly they had been struck by my dynamic personality. On Friday, I ended up having to take the keys to the workshop and lab home with me, and then having to get in as early as I could on Monday so that I could let everyone else in. Today, I didn't have the keys, so I couldn't shut the door, and was on the point of getting someone from one of the other workshops to drill in a few screws to hold the door shut until tomorrow morning, when someone with the keys returned to the office. Leaving the door unlocked isn't an option - it opens onto a little alleyway off a busy road, and contains a lot of expensive (and very, very flammable) stuff. I must remind them to check for me when everyone goes home (or just remember to check myself at around five). I really don't want to be locked in after the alarm is switched on!
