A very pleasant visit to the V&A today, where I bought the book that goes with the patchwork exhibition, but did not actually go in, since I was with number 1 g-d, who isn't really interested in textiles. Instead, we wandered about in the medieval and costume galleries and ate. Oddly enough, my knee has been behaving itself very well for several days, even bending properly for use on stairs, without much pain at all. Maybe the weather has improved it, or perhaps I'm just walking a bit more. Number 2 g-d came over for dinner this evening, with a bag of lovely fabric bits, so tomorrow I can make a proper start on the throw for the brother's anniversary, and maybe a couple of cushions in the same fabrics.
Work has been postponed for this week, so maybe I'll go to the patchwork show on Wednesday by myself. If the catalogue is anything to go by, it should be worth several visits; even the contemporary stuff looks interesting, except Tracy Emin, of course. I also bought the new edition of
The Subversive Stitch, a feminist history of embroidery that I've been looking for a copy of for years, but I was very strong, and didn't succumb to any of the little packages of new Liberty prints on sale for the exhibition.
