Well, I shouldn't have said that about the tube strike not affecting my journey into work... Normally, it takes about forty minutes, on two buses, and this morning that was about it. Just time for a nice sit-down and a read of my nice book (A Natural History of the Senses by Diane Ackerman). There were loads of people on foot after we'd passed King's Cross, but the traffic wasn't notably dreadful.
Coming home was a different story - traffic was practically grid-locked, and it took me nearly two hours (shriek) to get home by an unusually roundabout (but not especially interesting) route. Yes, I realise that I could have easily walked home in that time, but I'd bashed my heel just before leaving work, so I was stuck at the bus-stop (with my book) for ages (snarl).
I can't wait to see what surprises tomorrow holds.
