More spring stuff

A much less frustrating day today, mostly spent wandering around Highgate Cemetery and Kenwood House with Derya and Deniz. I was rather pleased with how much I managed to walk without setting the knee off - I suspect I just notice it more when I'm alone. I visited Highgate Cemetery last year, but in May, and it was surprising how different the plants looked. There were several spectacular magnolia trees in bloom in the gardens, and in the cemetery plants that will be waist-high in a few weeks, like Queen Anne's Lace, were at the neat rosette stage, and the daffodils were just going over. I took some pictures of the more floriferous graves to use as wallpaper, and a few more stone angels. Then we got the bus to Kenwood, where we found the house closed (it was 4.30 by then) but were pleased to find the restaurant still open, although not serving anything hot. It was beautiful spring weather (still not quite warm enough to do without a coat), and I got home pleasantly tired, but not too achey.

Anemones, primroses, violets and celandines - I just loved these colours.

This was on an unmarked grave - I think he's meant to be Sisyphus, but what an odd thing to put on a grave.

More angels.

Derya matching the japonica flowers by the lake.

One of the magnolias in the park, just at its peak.

Next Sunday, being Easter, we'll probably go for a walk along the South Bank.
