Yesterday was lovely but also tiring. I met
pondhopper at the British Library, and proceeded to drag her around two more museums, with only brief stops for food. We took in some of the manuscripts in the BL, then the History of Medicine collection at the Wellcome (plus a tasty lunch), and since they are all on the same bus route, we then made for the Wallace Collection, one of my favourite museums in London, which she hadn't seen before. After that, we were both practically on our knees, and just about made it to a patisserie on Marylebone High Street for hot chocolate and fruit tartlets. All in all, a lovely day - good company and conversation, piles of interesting things to look at and nice things to eat. I only hope
pondhopper's toe is feeling equally improved!
Despite, or perhaps because of all the walking, my bashed knee seems to be improving gradually. Today I'm planning to stay in, rest the leg and get some housework done, since the house is gradually falling down around my ears. There's no sign yet of the heavy snow we had been promised/threatened with. It looked very snowy earlier this morning, but now the sun is shining, and everything looks bright, cold and not snowy at all. Bearing in mind how easily this city is paralysed by a sprinkling of snow, I'm hoping that if it does snow, it starts in the daytime, when there is traffic moving about, so that the roads stay clear.
