After a week of near-agoraphobia, I seem to have perked up a bit, to the extent of actually getting out of the house for a bit yesterday morning and today. There was a clear feeling that the flu or whatever had passed almost instantly, while sitting on the bus yesterday. So, I hope, next week I will be back on track being a normal sociable human being with a job. I've been doing a lot of nothing much, but now I should be able to catch up on all the stuff I couldn't get round to doing over the holidays/disease. The sink is still a bit blocked, but at least the leak is sorted, and there is a lot of tidying and cleaning to do. I made a hopeful start by putting in some bulbs and ordering some tuberoses. These are my absolute favourite fragrant flowers, and with luck should be out at the same time as the dwarf orange, so that my whole flat will smell delicious. I also hope to start on the 50 book challenge and complete my backlog of sock monkeys, including Hermione Granger, Osama bin Laden and Hellboy.
Meanwhile, the brother called this afternoon to say that he was back for a fortnight or so's leave, so I will head down to his place on Thursday for one final Christmas meal. He's in one piece, but complains that it is colder here than up in the Himalayas, which makes me feel gratifyingly tough. I've bought some extra thermal long-johns and vests for when I'm back working in that stone-floored hall next week though.
