As I had hoped, the joint pain has subsided a good deal, and is pretty much back to normal now, that is to say only the hip hurts (slightly) all the time, and the knees when I've been walking. Much better, but it rather scotches my theory about the weather, since it's revolting today.
Yesterday I managed to get to the library, in case I was confined to the sofa for any length of time, and the shops, where I bought the makings of chicken soup. Maybe that miraculous cure-all is responsible for my recovery. Today, I'm staying in, doing a bit of work and putting away all the summer clothes that I didn't get round to wearing this year, in my newly-empty wardrobe.
My tambour hooks arrived yesterday, along with 8 m of fine silk that I can make into 4 crinkled scarves, either to sell or to give as presents. I have a lot of Christmas present projects in hand and strangely none of them managed to do themselves over the summer. There are a couple of small restoration jobs, and several Things To Make, including the scarves and a candy-striped sock monkey. I'm very eager to try out the tambour hooks, though, just as soon as I can locate a bit of suitable fabric and a frame. I suspect it might be more difficult than it looks.
