Last night, since it was almost my birthday I had a sort of dinner party/vodka tasting session. I'd been rather dreading this, since it had been arranged before I started on the great weight-loss project, but it didn't go too badly. Perhaps fortunately, two guests cried off, so there were only four of us; me, Jade, Andrew and Greta, a friend of Jade's who works on the same data-entry thing as me. We had a salad of tomatoes, parsley, black olives and halloumi, coley (saithe), baked in the oven with mediterranean-type vegetables with couscous (I didn't have any couscous), then fruit salad with creme fraiche (I didn't have any creme fraiche). Where I rather fell down was on the drink; pear vodka is at least as nice with apple juice as buffalo-grass vodka, and much nicer than mango vodka, strawberry vodka is excellent on its own, and myrtleberry vodka is pretty horrible (which is probably why my bottle of it has lasted nearly 7 years). Astonishingly, I didn't have a proper hangover, despite knocking back the stuff until about 3 am.
I promise not to bore everyone rigid with my bloody diet, but I am feeling gratifyingly hollow, now and will make some Healthy Soup later. Tomorrow, of course, I will have Cake, but not too much of it.
