Got to check out the summer job only ten minutes late, which wasn't so bad, considering that it was on the other side of the planet city, but it turned out to be much more like a formal interview than I'd expected. My very limited technical skills and experience were mentioned several times, and I'm not sure I came up with very intelligent questions when confronted with The Project itself. They'll call me, they said. I was relatively sanguine about my chances until a classmate, who has done the same sort of work before and had the same interview this afternoon, told me that she'd had what amounted to an offer on the spot. A pity, as the money was fairly good (£6 an hour, but no tax, since I'm a student). On the other hand, it would have been full-time, and the commute would be a complete bastard to do every day. Maybe I'll be better off going with plan A, which was to spend the summer redecorating the flat, visiting places and making my fortune selling stuff on eBay.
Now I'm all nervous about the placement interview tomorrow. Damn.
Meanwhile, although no rain fell south of the river, there seems to have been a very heavy shower on the north side. This had the happy effect of raising the humidity by at least twenty percent without lowering the temperature. It also soaked the rug I left out on the roof terrace. Double damn.
