Yesterday was my last day at Strawberry Hill this semester (I think). We did the usual running around, measuring rooms and listening to lectures under less than ideal conditions. Highlight of the day was when I trailed after the anti-Snape to look at the servants' rooms over the main floor, and photograph damp patches in the ceiling. Considering how long the place has been empty the rooms were remarkably dry - humidity levels are too low than is ideal for sensitive artifacts. Although the roof has been mended recently, there are several marks of damp, especially around the windows, all of which are in bad need of repair, and in some places where downpipes have leaked, but we found no signs of persistent damp, and all the water-marked places were dry as a bone. I have some fascinating (?) photographs, which I'll post later.
This morning, remarkably promptly, the first of what may well turn out to be a series of copper kettles arrived via eBay. Disappointingly, it was in very good, even usable, condition, and may need to be hurled about a bit before I can use it as a repair project.
