Grumpy and Nitpicking.

Rather a horrible Sunday - grey and very wet, with what I suppose is much-needed rain. I got up, had breakfast, then felt so fed up I went back to bed, and spent the rest of the day cursing my leg and feeling very sorry for myself. I think the latest problem is just due to the unaccustomed exercises, and will (I hope) clear up when I've rested the thing a bit.

Perked up a little in the evening, in order to hurl abuse at the latest TV offering on Elizabeth I. I liked the recent one on Channel 4 with Helen Mirren, although the budget was visible (only about twenty men to listen to her Tilbury speech). The costumes in the new version annoyed me a lot. There was an awful lot of Indian embroidery, thai silk and what looked very like Indian printed cotton doublets in the last episode. Presumably to make them look more macho all the male characters had leather trousers and wore their doublets undone all the time, which annoyed me more and more as the series progressed. And surely the Earl of Leicester didn't use quite that much hair gel? He had exactly the same haircut that my nephew had at 13.
