The bombardment didn't go on as long as it did last year, despite a perfect clear night. I spent an hour or so on the terrace, watching the big displays in the distance, and the very much closer display from the people on the roof across the road. Rather oddly, I'd not thought of letting off fireworks from the terrace, but maybe I should try it next year. By the time I went to bed, it had mostly tailed off, apart from a few late outbursts of expensive-looking fireworks from nearby, so that I was able to watch the rockets from my bed, through the glass roof.
