So, lol. I posted on this rat community on LJ, asking if anyone believed in interspecies love (i.e. cats and dogs, birds and rabbits, etc.), citing the example that one of our rats seems to be in love with the ferret. A day later, there were like thirty responses all from people just bitching about us having a rat and a ferret at the same time, the fact that the ferret has free roam, etc. So one of the people went through MY ENTIRE JOURNAL and c/ped screencaps of parts in my journal where I was bitching about my brother mistreating the animals and whining about the rats shitting on his bed. I lol'd hard. It's like, dude, seriously? You went through MY ENTIRE JOURNAL to find a single mention of the rats or the ferret being sick, or injured? One of the people cited Quinn getting out the front door yesterday morning as an example that I was irresponsible and that all of the pets should be caged all the time. What am I supposed to do, not ever open the front door in case the wind blows the wrong way and blows over a plant that the rats can chew and choke on? They all said my vet and the ferret experts that had Quinn last winter were stupid for saying that the ferret and Hewey being together wasn't a problem, but then when I gave them his Facebook link and told them to talk to him themselves, they were all like, "OH LOL SORRY WE DON'T HAS A FACEBOOK!!1!!!!1!!1!" Convenient, amirite? I'm pretty sure my vet and the ferret expert's opinion weighs a bit more heavy on me than half a dozen random kids on the internet. Anyway, it was pretty annoying that this person spent over half an hour going through my entire journal entry to prove that somehow we're irresponsible with our pets and mistreat them, even though they were making really random assumptions, like that my brother whining about the rats shitting on his bed was a clear indication that we allow them to do whatever they want and don't clean up after them. So I just deleted the whole post and thanked everyone for weighing in and said that their opinions would be taken into consideration. Yes, among with the opinions of my vet, the expert and the research I've done.

And out of thirty comments, not a single one had to do with the original question that I asked.

livejournal, rats, ferret
