Nathalie Blanchard, a woman from Quebec on long-term sick leave has stopped receiving monthly benefits after she posted Facebook photos of herself having fun. A year and a half ago the woman was granted leave from her job at IBM in Bromont, because of a depression diagnosis and has been receiving sick-leave benefits every month by The Manulife insurance company.
AWFUL. WHAT THE FUCK? Just because she was having fun, CLEARLY that means that she isn't depressed. What the hell do people think, that the only REAL depressed people are the ones who are sitting at him, curled up in a ball in the corner cutting themselves and crying? That's awful, dude. People who receive social benefits for mental illnesses are being paid by the government to get well - and, unless I'm mistaken, getting well includes being able to try to have fun every once in a while. Shame on her for trying to get better.
Fucking idiots. This completely supports my (paranoid) theory that if disability sees me spending my money on something (GOD FORBID) fun, because I'm trying to get better, they will take it from me. Even though my therapist told me to think of it as though the province is paying me to get better. Which means trying to have fun. But stories like this reinforce my idea that I just shouldn't spend my money on anything, or else they'll take it from me. Which.. to be honest, I'm terrified of.
INCIDENTALLY!, I finally got Alli to play Key Quest with me today.. AND SHE LIKES IT. amg I'm so glad. Now we can spend 3058 hours a day playing Key Quest together because we're fat losers who don't do anything at all. Though she's just as bad off as I am (mentally), so no one who really knows her should ever call her lazy.
