Despite feeling massively cynical about this election as a whole and predicting a disastrous outcome, I distinctly felt my spirits lift as I entering the polling station. My first ever vote in a General Election is not something to be sneezed at, after all.
Unfortunately, my spirits then dropped again as I examined the ballot paper. The Conservative candidate was the only one without an Oxford address. Astonishingly enough, she appeared to be based in London. I very nearly voted Lib Dem to show what I thought of that kind of contempt for one's electorate, but then decided that the good of the country had to come before the good of Oxford East. Ho hum.
Still, I would have felt awful if I hadn't voted. You don't get many chances at this kind of thing in a lifetime, after all.
