wow this computer's very slow and i have so little time!!! anyways, lots to update, as always!!!
the last time i updated was in Berlin (other than the piddly prague one) so...
Dresden: not amazing.. completely razed by the war, so all the 'old' buildings are just new ones with fake dirt. had a good rest there tho, heard a nice story about a dutch guy breaking one of the beds in our room the night before... hmmm... i won't repeat it here, but I know you all have immaginations. and no he didn't jump on it. So that's dresden done.
Prague: very beautiful!!!! my bed was totally rickity, rocked all over the place at the slightest touch, which kinda sucked, but mehs. the first night we went out for a walk downtown... which got anjali all excited about amber :( i'll return to this soon. So yeah. we ate at a chinese restaurant too... (we've been eating a lot of chinese and italien food, but we had enchilladas on out last night in dresden!) but yeah. had an early night-ish as in we were in bed by about 11, washed and everything. woke up the next morning, went on a walking tour, which was cool. the tour wasn't nearly as good as the one in Berlin, but it was still interesting, covering all the major important stuff. we had lunch (part of the tour, although not included in the price) in a traditional czech pub, and we had two orders of potato dumplings (potatos stuffed with pork and boiled cabbage.. i didn't eat the cabbage, but the dumplings were good!) and an order of goulash (... stew?) it was all pretty good, and with everything in the czech republic, it was stupidly cheap. after the tour, the three of us trouped down to the old town, where the major shopping happened. I restricted myself. I only bought a pashmina scarf, a 'czech me out' patch, and an early birthday present: a garnet ring! it was the tiniest garnet ever, but i think it's beautiful. Anjali and laura on the other hand were not so restrictive. they came home laiden down with thousands of crowns (hundreds of dollars) worth of jewlery, amber and garnet, silver and gold. I was quite flabbergasted. I burst my budget buying a ring, and they spent as much money in one hour as i did in one week! well almost lmao. it was impressive.
that night we hung out in the bar a bit, talked, blah blah, then had another 'early' night. the next morning, we woke up at 10 to catch a 12:30 train to kutna hora, an hour out of Prague (train cost about four dollars return). we met up with a bunch of people from bussabout, and we trouped down to the 'bone church' which is a church decorated with about 40000 skeletons (well the bones of that many skeletons). It was quite cool, but the town was boring, so we went back soon after finishing the church and went shopping again. this time i only got a chrystal nail file (omg so luxurious!) and another patch, this time saying 'kgb - still watching you!' hehe! it's good. the other two doubled their spending and their hauls, so i won't even go there. needless to say we were very tired and had another 'early' night. hehe. the next morning was when i posted last, woke up early for the sad sad parting. we took the bus together as far as cesky krumlov, then parted ways °sniff° but now i was free! mwahaha.
cesky krumlov: so beautiful!!!!! the first night i did a wander, went around the town in about fifteen minutes, so tiny! then i went back to the hostel, saw a few people i recognized and started talking to them. we ended up going as a big group (mainly bussabout but two american guys as well) to a bar called traveller's, which was fun (i had a strawberry juice and got caught up on the situation in israel by one of the americans, who's jewish and spent time there recently) then they went to another bar (horror bar!!!) and i left at that point cuz i was tired. haha oh another thing. I was the only girl there in a room full of guys!!! and when i got back, around 12:30, I was the third last one back. all these mid twenties guys were fast asleep! so early!!!! it was kinda funny actually. anyways, the next day i went to a museum about the history of cesky, which was interesting, although a tad dull. then i wandered up to the castle with the intention of doing a tour, and on the way bumped into the two americans from the night before. so we did a tour together! it was funny cuz they were total nerds as well, and asked as many brainy questions as i did, and said 'yay cesky krumlov!' every time the tour guide mentioned the name of the town. haha then we lay on some grass (there's no grass in america! lmao)and got found by a couple of other people from the hostel. they mentioned they wanted to go to the jousting that evening, and i did too! so we went back to the hostel, got ready and went to the jousting. it was so funny! it was a scripted, choreographed tournament (for the love and hand in marriage of a lady) but it was all in czech so we didn't understand a word! but oh well, there were a couple of hot guys wielding swords, so that made it all worth while. afterwards, we went back to the hostel, had supper, chatted with various people, then they stayed at the hostel while i went with a group out again to traveller's.
this is where the fun starts! it was PACKED!!! so full. then about fifteen minutes in, while four of us (two of them, julius and melissa.. i think? poofed into thin air.. and now neither of them is talking.. hmmm) stood around looking silly and feeling ready to go, a band walked on stage. they were awesome! a fiddler, a guitar, and an accordion player with a tamborine attatched to his foot! they played folk songs as well as general tunes that everybody knew. it was like a czech folk mosh pit! so amazing. anyways, i started talking to these two guys. first a dutch guy (finishing his masters in composition, plays spanish guitar, gave me the name of the piece of music he's analysing for his masters.. yay!) and a canadian after (hehe from victoria, goes to college for buisness, plays soccer...) anyways, next thing i knew, it was two in the morning, and everyone from the original group (which eventually grew) was gone! poof! except for one, but she seemed preoccupied. so then i excused myself from mike (i only then found out his name.. names don't seem to matter anymore, i never learnt dutch guitar player's name) and went home.
so that's the catch up to essentially the present, but I don't have time to discuss tonight as i only have two minutes left, it's almost twelve and i still have to do laundry.. it might have to wait till tomorrow! and i'll have to do it in my pjs. hehe! anyhoo, I miss you yada yada...
IVE BEEN GONE FOR A MONTH AND MY BIRTHDAY IS IN TWELVE DAYS!!!!! WHOOT!!!!
