whee another long update ahead!!! WARNING!!!

so last time i updated... right, so the second day in Brugges, we (anjali, jo, laura and I) went on to the history of chocolate museum, which was actually kind of cool! learnt all about the origins of chocolate, as well as how it's made and all that good stuff, very interesting... and good chocolate at the end of it! The rest of the day was pretty much spent wandering and eating waffles and chocolate and ice cream. In the evening we went on a free walking tour run by the hostel, which was actually very interesting. we learnt a lot about the name of the city, as well as the fortifications, and the various small interesting histories. really cool! That night a group of bussabouters were playing a card game thing, which i joined in. then a couple of them wanted to see the nightlife in brugges (there really isn't any), so i guided them to it.. a couple of music bars, and finally a "club" so full i decided to go home. lmao one of the guys was trying to pull me in, but i said "no" hehe. BUT on the way back, who should i see but three of the guys from the hostel, who had gotten completely high off their asses earlier that evening! so basicallz i sat and talked with them (dusty, charlie and Aaron) until the club people showed up about an hour later :P haha i have a great picture of one of the guys lying in the middle of the road! so funny..

RIGHT so the next day we didn't have much to do, so we got more waffles and waited till 1pm for the bus.. which took us to Amsterdam (jo couldn't get on it.. waaa!) not very eventful really, but this new hostel at least had a door on the showers that locks! we were in a ten bed room, which kinda sucked, but it was ok... anyways. the next morning we went to the Anne frank house. it was really interesting. There was one thing at the end, which was actually my favourite, which was video clips on current events which could hinder human rights in pursuit of the "greater good", and then asked the people watching to vote on whether they agree or disagree with the event. VERY interesting! um.. then it started getting cold, and we were tired and sore, so we decided to go see a movie (.... hehe) we went to the most beautiful movie theatre EVER!!! very old, spiral staircase, chandeliers everything. it was totally worth the 9euros to get in... blegh and it was a bad movie! which i now cant remember the name, but with kirsten dunst. that night we also went to the worst dance club in the history of everything... it played R&B and rap!!!! no techno to be seen! so basically i blew my budget that day... yuk.

Next day we.. slept in a bit, then i got up, got us all breakfast, woke the others up, and we went to the Van Gogh museum.. it was pretty cool, but i've never seen an art museum so busy except for the louvre!!!! it was insane!!! absolute madness. lalala then we wandered i suppose, went back to the hostel, then went out to see the red light district :P it's situated on the two sides of a canal, and on each side there's a collection of brothels, cabaret shows, strip shows and honest to goodness live sex shows. there's also a lot of prostitutes, but the way it works there is that the prostitutes buy a window space for 100euros or a bit more, and then they attract men to their window/door, and there's a bed in the back. it's quite the well co-ordinated busness! we had to get up early the next morning, so we didn't stay long.

the next day was pretty much spent on the bus to Berlin. It was a fairly easy ride, considering it was ten hours, but we stop enough and there's movies and we watched will and grace, and i was TIRED so it was ok.

In the evening when we got to Berlin we went to... a JAZZ CONCERT!!! it was a free jazz bar! it was amazing! well the main band was.. very modern and kinda sucked (although they were all very good musicians in their own right). the pianist looked like moby, the sax player looked like he was having the best orgasm ever, and the drummer looked like he was about to throw up or cry... different :P. but the backup band was fantastic. much more classical jazz, piano (very yummy, he scat sang his variations under his breath!) sax, drum and bass. all yummy!!! oh and that night introduced me to banana juice, which i'm now addicted to!

the next day we went to checkpoint charlie (checkpoint C as i rightly guessed!), the topography of terror which outlined the nazi war crimes, and the jewish museum.. the museum was very interesting, with a hall of continuation, a hall of exile and a hall of .. something else which i can't remember right now, but it led to the holocaust tower in which all you could see was a small slit of light from the top. you could hear the outside world (and anjali, who just can't seem to manage a whisper) but you can't get to it. very powerful. so the jewish museum was extremely interesting! that evening (now last evening.. im caught up!) we went on a pub crawl! wow.. four bars and one dance club. i dilligently tried each and every drink that anjali and laura ordered/each free shot we got but didn't like anything. Anjali got completely trashed and couldn't walk in a straight line (had about five cocktails, eight shots and a beer) and laura got sick. I had a kiba (banana juice mixed with cherry juice.. TO DIE FOR!!) and a banana juice... i'm addicted! what can i say? anyways, i dragged everyone semi-willingly out just before three am, and we went back and crashed, litterally.

this morning, I woke up at about 10:30, got showered, dressed and went out to get breakfast from a bakery (rhubbarb danish!) then went to wake people up. i woke laura up fine, but failed miserably with anjali who looked like death had taken over. right. so laura and i went on the BEST FREE TOUR EVER it was better than any payed tour could've been we saw everything! and got amazing explanations from a wonderfully sarcastic tour guide. just my kind of tour! we tipped him ten euros between the two of us.

so that pretty much brings you all up to date!

oh yeah, i now have a pair of birkinstocks. they only cost 27 euros, but i bought them with my credit card (with permission) and will pay my mum back.. i also got you a pair mummy!!! they're red with three straps, i hope that's ok!

I miss you all so much!

oh zeah, Berlin is the most amazing city.. im considering trying to do my third year of uni here, i love it so much. these past two days have flown past, and i barely got to see half the things i wanted to! dresden tomorrow, it should be more relaxing, but still fun. ill update soon, i promise!!!
