Referral to The Laurels, Exeter

I had my first GP appointment last week and my doctor was super understanding. She had referred transgender patients to The Laurels a few times before, so I don't really have any reason not to trust her. However I'm a little bit confused because she sent my details (blood pressure/bmi) straight to the clinic and I was under the impression that there was a little bit of backwards and forwards you have to do before that point (i.e., funding and psych assessment). Does psych assessment take place at The Laurels or will I have to be diagnosed by my local mental health team? I'm in Devon but at the other end of the county to Exeter.

Also, how soon can I expect any correspondence? I'm semi-closeted and living with my mother who is very hostile and quite abusive about the whole thing & isn't aware that I'm speaking to people about transition yet. I'm very antsy about her finding a letter and most likely opening it because she's a bit of a arse like that. So it would be nice to know roughly what time I will be receiving the letter about making an appointment.

transition process, doctors
