I have a family wedding to attend in November. I'm out to some family members, but not others. As I am out to the bride and her fiance and learned I'm not the only trans person in attendance, I've decided to wear a formal suit to the wedding. It's the first formal family event where this is the case. (I have a traditional Catholic family, so it's a big step.)
However. I don't own a formal suit and don't have the money to purchase one at the moment. I'm in the US on the east coast (I am in Philadelphia, the wedding is in Boston). I am thinking of renting a suit at a local men's formalwear store and simply transporting it to the wedding, but, again, I've never done this before.
Does anyone have any advice on what I'm looking for? Cuts I should go for or avoid? I am short - 5'1 - pre-everything and manifestly do not pass.

Additionally, a lot of my family, when I talk to them, don't understand what I'm talking about at all. The few I've come out to where it hasn't turned into a circus were already involved in the Boston queer community. Are there any (decent) representations of trans men in media that I might be able to point them to as examples? (Obviously I couldn't think of any.)
