I searched the memories and tags and didnt find an answer. All my documents have been changed to male wit the exception of my birth certificate because i was unfortunately born in NYC and i do not know when bottom surgery will be possible for me. I currently still live in the state of NY.
I was doing so searching on the internet about state requirement for a marriage license and noticed that not all states require a birth certificate.
so my question. If my g/f and i were to get married in a state that did not require a birth certificate, and it was not considered a same sex marriage, would it be recognized in the state of ny and federally for that matter?
I basically consider myself post transition and while i do want bottom surgery, i dont think it will happen in the relatively near future, but i do want to get married and start a family. and i feel like the whole birth certificate thing is holding me back...
thanks in advance for any info/advice.
