Hey everybody. I'm Jordy. I think I've posted in here once or twice, probably a few years ago. Anyway, I'm a trans guy, on T for 5 years, pre-op, semi-stealth. I'm a dirty rad fuzzy little queer punk kid with freckles and I like cupcakes and blahdy blah other stuff. I hail from the DC area (Maryland, specifically).
Alright, I'm not sure if this is allowed or not.. if not, sorry about that, let me know and I'll remove it ASAP.
I have a sort of "marketing" question for you all.
I'm in the process of starting up a little distro (distribution company), mostly for fun and not for profit, run by me, in order to sell and/or trade custom-made products specifically for trans guys in any stage of transition (and to sell/trade zines and other stuff). The website is "under construction" and doesn't have much on it yet, but the current URL is:
http://nervoushabitdistro.viviti.com/ Here's some of the stuff I'd make custom and sell:
packer harnesses;
stand-to-pee devices;
dick pumps;
special briefs to wear with special washable menstrual pads*
separate individual briefs-sized pads
*The briefs and pads would all attach with small snaps, and would be comfortable, breathable, absorbent, and virtually silent when taking on and off (only the barely-audible "snap" sound) [super good for public bathrooms]. The briefs & pads would be made of all organic cloth (briefs: cotton; pads: cotton [or cotton blend] & terry-cloth) and could all be washed in the washing machine and worn again & again.
Everything I'd sell would be priced fairly, like on a sliding scale. I will not be selling stuff with the expectation of making a profit -- especially seeing as I know how damn expensive it can be to transition (since I'm transitioning myself), and I know the economy's in the shitter -- and the prices (and my open willingness to negotiate prices and to trade) will clearly reflect that. I'm just setting up this distro for fun, something to do, to benefit other trans guys, and trade & network with other zinesters and folks into DIY.
I'd make everything myself (unless otherwise noted on the website) with a sewing machine and whatever else I'd need, and I'd ship everything myself.
So, basically, I'm wondering..... Do you think the stuff I'm planning to sell would likely be of interest to you or your friends or partners, etc.? I'm trying to figure out if there would be a fair amount of demand for what I'd be making or not.
Thanks in advance if you read all this and respond, and my apologies again if this isn't allowed.
