I met a great guy this morning at the anticlimactic Fred Phelps thing this morning. He is on live journal under kosseferal. He is an awesome guy who drove down from Mass to play with Mr. Phelps should he show up. He is a great guy and I have mad respect to anyone who has lived through as much as he has and decided to transition after having kids (and he has a good voice..no matter what he thinks). :)
He could teach us a lot about what life is like as we get older, you should check him out! Kudos to meeting a cool guy this morning.
This morning went very well. Standing room only for the 8 and 10 am services. Fred Phelps was, of course, a no show. There was a lot of media attention over the last few days in point and TV media as well as the church had both uniform police in the parking lot and a few plain clothes cops in the church congregation. They were taking no chances considering Fred Phelps has sued churches in the past for a variety of things including saying that members pushed him, hit him, he slipped etc etc etc.
It was a good service about Loving instead Hating and was about not letting yourself ever get as hateful as some groups out there.
So, all in all, nothing bad happened, I went to church and it did not catch on fire, got to meet a really cool Monk and come home to a nice warm house with a cute girl in it...who did all the packing this morning..wooohooo. :)
