i've found tons and tons of stuff about binding. i can't get a real binder, so i use tight strong sports bras, sometimes layered. the problem is, when i do that, i constantly have to adjust or i end up with this huge uniboob, which is kinda anti the point ( Read more... )

I think it depends on how much you sweat. I was told moisture makes duct tape, at least, bond with your skin, making the two inseparable. I was told this at an anime convention, from two women who are really good at cosplay and do a lot of cross-gender cosplay. They had a friend who wanted to do open shirt at a con once and used duct tape to get things out of the way. 16 hours at a hot con and buckets of sweat later, she tried to remove the tape quickly. There was screaming, and blood, and possibly nipple loss (they were vague).
I wonder about other kinds of tape though. You would think doctors have some kind of tape made to stick to the skin and come off later no matter how long it's been on, but maybe it's just stuff that sticks to itself.

*nod* that's why i'm thinking like medical tape. it breathes more, and the fabric/cloth ones should wick away sweat so it's not a pile of nasty.

i personally use surgical tape just to put them to the side and yeah it hurts a lot less than duct tape, masking tape or any other type of tape when u try to remove it. here's a tip tho. don't try to rip it off in a hurry. owchies.

Tape is such a bad idea, even if you do it over something. To get it tight enough to do anything, you have to constrict your breathing, and unlike fabric, tape really doesn't have any give to it.

that's why i'm not going to tape all the way around. at all. pretty much all i want to do is from the middle of my boob to under my armpit. that's it.

You say you "can't get a real binder", but I'm wondering why not? You're a legal adult, and a "real binder" doesn't cost really much more than a decent sports bra. If nothing else, you could walk into a local drugstore and buy an abdominal binder, which would be safer and better than using tape.

i'd second this. an abdominal binder, made out of neoprene (the stuff wetsuits are made out of) would be MUCH better than tape, and over the long run (because you'd have to use a lot of tape) would probably cost you less - they run from about $9 to $15. you can get them at most major drugstores (like transpoet said) or at a sports supply store, and sometimes even at a department store - I've gotten one before at Ross on sale for $2.

k, i'll look for stuff like that. but i'm not looking to bind with tape, just keep things where they should be inside what i use to bind.

i'm living with my parents. my mom wouldn't really deal with that so well. also: i'm unemployed so i don't have money to buy a new bra even. maybe 5 bucks for a roll of some kind of tape, but that's it.
