Ah, I am from Illinois... I do not even know where to begin looking this information up. I've been pretty sheltered, had much of my stuff done for me throughout life. Any tips on where I should begin?
If you can, change your name beforehand. I don't believe they bother with a gender on GEDs, but I'm sure some states do it differently (I did mine in WA). With HS transcripts, they have it on there.
i have a GED and i had my name changed on it. i don't think that gender factors in at all. my GED sure doesn't have any gender listed, it just says my name. i live in oklahoma and i just had to call a number and ask what to do about my name change. i think they charged me about $10 and then sent me a new GED with the new name on it.
there has to be a way for people to get copies of their GED in the future if they lose it or need it for whatever reason. i think it's kind of just the same process except for you say you had your name changed and you will be asked to send in a copy of your name change document (or maybe an original) and $.
anyway, that's how it went down for me. if you are really worried then try looking up a number in the phone book, call the education department and talk to someone who can answer that question for you. the process could be different in your state.
