A letter to the Editor...
I just wrote this to our local paper...
Just a reminder to drivers on the road...Sometimes is it okay to pull off to the side of the road. This means if you see lights, or hear sirens, you SHOULD pull over! Police and Emergency vehicles that have their lights and sirens on HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY! Get out of the way! Do not stop in the middle of the road, pull off to the side!
In addition, if you see a funeral procession, the same rules apply! All you have to do is stop. It is the respectful thing to do. I watched two people pass a line of cars in the turn lane on Mt. Vernon Road today, while in a funeral procession, in front of the Colonial Shopping Center. What is more important...getting back to work on time or taking the time to reflect on your own life?
Can you tell that I'm annoyed? My brother is a fireman, and my brother-in-law is a funeral director. Yes, this annoys the hell out of me!!
